Artificially Intelligent Reversi (March 28, 2005)Greetings and salutations, welcome to my third public beta of Othello, also known as Reversi. The game uses a few simple AI techniques to attempt to beat the pants off of you. The status box on the right tells you whose turn it is, or whether you've won or lost, or if you're trying to cheat. The drop down box lists various levels. The expert level will try to expand a million nodes per turn. The intermediate level will try to expand a half a million nodes per turn. The novice level will try to expand 128,000 nodes per turn. Additionally, all but the bottom two levels use a "bonus" system that gives it a better idea of where the game is going, even if it can't reach sufficient depth to play out the end game scenario. The program is adaptive, and if it has insufficient memory, it will reduce the number of nodes it will attempt to expand per turn. |
