Review: Neato eye candy!

Van Helsing is a fun movie about vampires, werewolves, various monsters, and this guy, Van Helsing. We don't find out too much about him in the movie, but it seems like he's an interesting guy. Basically he goes around kicking the asses of 19th Century evil-doers, and in fantastic form. The movie centers around him travelling to Transylvania to help kill Dracula and end a curse on the family from which Dracula came. That part of it is pretty complicated, but mostly, it's really cool music, fighting, special effects, and so on. There are some church-y undertones that add to the creepiness-factor. These are a lot easier to swallow than the mish-mash of literary undertones. But who cares! Monsters exploding and vampires flying and some of the coolest werewolf transformations out there. It's not the most cerebral film in the world, but it sure is a lot of fun.
